The Waypoint

Last week was a rough one…..
Man, I didn’t think last week was ever going to end. Between a family emergency and having to say goodbye to the dog we’ve had since I was 10 years old, it was a rough one.

I hate running…..
Especially long distance running.
I have to give props to those that run 5Ks, half marathons, and marathons.
It takes extreme dedication and discipline to train your body to do it.

How often do you learn something new?
And, I don’t mean just accidentally picking up a new skill.
But when was the last time you picked up a book or did your own research to learn a new skill or acquire knowledge that helps you become well rounded?

There Are Either Winners or Losers, No Participants
In the game of life there are no participation trophies…..
In today’s culture I see sporting events for kids that keep no score, equal playing time regardless of skill and effort, and worst of all…. A trophy for everyone.

It turns out that the little things really do matter…..
We have all probably heard it numerous times throughout our life that the small things matter, that the small details can make or break something.
Well, it is true.
The perfect example of this is just looking at our own lives.

You will never please everyone…..
You just won’t. People are hard to please.
For some reason though there is something in us that inherently makes us want to please everyone, want to be liked by everyone.
It will never happen though.

Preparing Your Fields For Rain
When was the last time you tended to your fields??
Oh, you're not a farmer? Well good thing because I meant the fields, the crops, of life.
Everyday, we sow seeds that we will harvest at one point or another.
Some good, some bad. So, what kind of seeds are you sowing?

Where do you draw the line?
At what point do you decide to put your foot down and say enough is enough?
We all have our non-negotiables and our tolerances but over the last 10 to 15 years those have slowly been compromised.
