Run The Race and Win The Race

Run The Race and Win The Race

I hate running…..

Especially long distance running.

I have to give props to those that run 5Ks, half marathons, and marathons.

It takes extreme dedication and discipline to train your body to do it.

The training you have to do to be able to run these kinds of events is called endurance training.

The thing about  endurance training is that it's not something you can just do here and there and then you’ve got it.

Endurance training is a daily activity.

With the exception of a few recovery days you train endurance everyday through another concept called progressive overload.

Progressive overload is gradually increasing the difficulty of something to increase your endurance.

So if you run one mile one day you run two miles the next or you try to run one mile faster than the day before by a few seconds.

Our human limits are a lot farther than we think they are and truth be told most of us will never actually hit our limits.

The concepts of building endurance through progressive overload apply directly to most things in life.

When you start something new you won’t be very good at it but by doing more of it and doing it time and time again you will continue to get better at it.

What most of us lack though is discipline. We want it now. We want to be the best right now.

That is simply not the case.

To be completely honest, you will probably never be the best because there will always be room to improve.

We like to put our own limits on things and that is why a lot of people plateau and end up dropping off.

Everyday you should set out to push past what you think is your limit and see how far you can go and then continue to do that every single day.

Push past your limits.
