Educate Yourself Daily

How often do you learn something new?

And, I don’t mean just accidentally picking up a new skill.

But when was the last time you picked up a book or did your own research to learn a new skill or acquire knowledge that helps you become well rounded?

I’ll admit for the longest time I said that after high school I would never read a book again.

That was until I figured out that there are actually books you can acquire skills from.

Here is some crazy statistics for you though:

  • 50% of U.S. adults are not able to read past an 8th grade level
  • 33% of people that graduate high school never read a book again
  • 80% of people have not purchased a book in the last year
  • 50% of books are started and not finished

Crazy, right?

I think it is fair to say that most adults in the U.S. pretty much shut off the learning part of their brain by their mid twenties.

We learn what we need for our job and to take care of ourselves and our families and that is it.

We can’t stop there though.

The minute you stop growing you start regressing, you start falling behind.

We need to be educating ourselves daily through books, newsletters, podcasts, you name it.

It is the easiest it has ever been to learn whatever you want to learn and most of us fail to take advantage of it.

Consider picking up a book and reading it start to finish because by doing that you just leveled up over millions of people.

Learn something new.
